Stokesia laevis

Commonly known as Stoke’s aster, or simply stokesia, Stokesia laevis is a pretty species of aster native to Georgia and South Carolina, and is the only species in the genus Stokesia. A hardy, evergreen perennial, it will hold its foliage all year during mild winters. From midsummer to the first frosts it produces fantastically fringed lilac-coloured flowers that are a magnet for bees, hoverflies and butterflies.
