Spotted Laurel – Aucuba japonica ‘Variegata’

Aucuba japonica ‘Variegata’ is an excellent evergreen shrub with large leathery green leaves with a golden-yellow speckle to them. This variegation means it is a lovely addition to a shaded spot as the leaves will have a light enhancing effect. It has a dense growth habit and tolerates the shade well. In the spring, small, purple flowers can appear and if it is near a male clone then they could be followed by some glossy red berries – not for eating though! Maximum height and spread is approximately 250 cm.
