Chinese Lantern Plant – Physalis alkekengi var. franchetii ‘Gigantea’

Also known as Chinese lanterns, it is a hardy perennial that bears creamy white flowers in summer, but is mostly grown for its the papery orange ‘lanterns’ (calyces) that enclose the round berries in autumn.
