STAFF PICKS OF THE WEEK

Another round of autumn themed staff picks!

Spiraea ‘Goldflame’
This plant is rewarding throughout 3 seasons of the year, with foliage changing colour from early spring to late autumn. The colder autumn weather causes fiery copper and red tones to appear on the leaves, which will compliment any garden and makes it a great addition. Attractive pink blooms also appear in summer which attract pollinators and other wildlife. It may reach an ultimate height and spread of 7.5m and thrives in full sun.

Carex buchananii ‘Red Rooster’
This grass is great for adding contrast to your beds and borders. It is easy to grow while maintaining its colour year-round. It is also the perfect addition to winter containers, with its reddish/brown tones making it perfect for autumn. It may reach an ultimate height and spread of 1m and can grow in full sun, partial shade and full shade.

Leucothoe ‘Zeblid’
Although Leucothoe has many great varieties, our staff pick for this week is… Scarletta Leucothoe. It is evergreen, with bronze/deep red leaves in autumn and dark green leaves in spring. This plant, like its many other varieties, is great as it thrives either in the ground or in containers and can handle full shade. It is an attractive plant, with its colouring making it a perfect autumn addition to your garden. It may reach an ultimate height of 1.5m and ultimate spread of 2.5m and thrives in full shade or partial shade.
